THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION

 

THE CLASS WILL COVER THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL/JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS. MR. RHODES BELIEVES IN AN INTERACTIVE OUTCOME BASED LEARNING FORMAT.

MR. RHODES ENJOYS SPEAKING TO VARIOUS CIVIC GROUPS, TEACHERS, AND STUDENTS IN FULL COSTUME ABOUT THE SUBJECT. GOVERNMENT LEADERS WILL APPEAR IN PERSON TO DISCUSS ISSUES WITH STUDENTS FIRSTHAND.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS

STUDENTS WILL ATTEND CLASS REGULARLY AND BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ASSIGNMENTS DUE. ALL WORK IS DUE IN FULL AND NO GRADES ARE GIVEN FOR PARTIAL WORK.

STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE PAPER, PEN, PENCIL, COLORED PENCILS, NOTEBOOK, SCHOOL PLANNERS AND VARIOUS TEXTBOOKS/WORKBOOKS WITH THEM WHEN THEY ATTEND CLASS. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY LOCKER ACTIVITY DURING CLASS. PLEASE ARRANGE NOT TO INTERRUPT CLASS DURING CLASS TIME. TAKE CARE OF PERSONAL BUSINESS OUTSIDE OF CLASS.

STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WRITE AND PRESENT A PAPER ON A VARIOUS ASSIGNED TOPIC OF THE CONSTITUTION.

STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO KNOW HOW AN ISSUE BECOMES A BILL - AND A BILL BECOMES - A LAW OF THE LAND.

STUDENTS WILL BE TESTED THREE TIMES TO PASS THE CONSTITUTION TEST USING THREE DIFFERENT TEST FORMS. A GRADE OF 60% IS PASSING. STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE THE HIGHEST OF THEIR TEST GRADES FOR THEIR FINAL TEST GRADE.

STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE NOTES AND WRITE ANALYTICAL REVIEWS OF VARIOUS SPEAKERS AND PUBLIC LEADERS THAT APPEAR IN CLASS.

STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO RECITE PREAMBLE VERBATIM.

STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN A TEST ON THE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS

ALL STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN PRE-TESTS, POP QUIZZES, WORKBOOK ACTIVITIES,  LECTURES, MEGA-MEMORY TRAINING TO IMPROVE STUDY SKILLS, TESTS, AND GAMES

ANY VIOLATION OF CLASS REQUIREMENTS WILL RESULT IN AN IMMEDIATE ADMINISTRATOR/TEACHER/PARENT/STUDENT CONFERENCE TO RESOLVE ISSUES.

ALL STUDENTS PASSING THE CONSTITUTION TEST WILL BE AWARDED A CERTIFICATE SIGNED BY MR. RHODES AND MR. CONKLIN.
