Classroom Rules and Expectations
The following rules, consequences and motivators will be followed in order to provide each student with a safe and positive learning environment.
Classroom Rules:
1. Be respectful of yourself and other's right to learn.
2. Come to class prepared with all supplies and homework complete, ready to learn when the teacher signals.
3. Leave your seat only when necessary.
4. Follow directions.
5. Always do your best.
Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior:
1. A verbal warning will be given.
2. Student will be asked to meet with me after class or during Advisory.
3. Student will be given a noon detention. This means they lose the privilege to eat with their classmates and will do extra work during that period.
4. Go to the office.
Any crude and inappropriate gestures and language will not be tolerated and will result in being sent directly to the principal's office. Also any action that threatens the safety of any student or teacher will result in immediate dismissal to the principal's office.
Motivational Strategies:
1. Seat Scramble--Students will have
assigned seats Monday-Thursday.
On Friday, students will be
allowed to choose where they would like to sit for that day. The teacher
will randomly draw a student by row and seat number to receive a small prize. If the student
needs disciplinary action during that class session, the prize if forfeited.
2. Homework Reward Parties--Once a month, students who have completed all homework and who have had no incomplete assignments will be rewarded with a whole 8th grade party. The party will take place on the last day of school for each month and will be from 2:00-3:20 p.m. Those not meeting the party requirements will meet in an assigned room to make up missing/late/incomplete work as needed.

I will not use "put-downs" or harass others.
I will respect other people's difference and opinions.

I will enter and exit the classroom quietly.
I will complete all assignments on time.
I will actively listen when the teacher is speaking.
I will come to class prepared to learn.
I will take good care of all school property.
